MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION, Metalworking Solutions Company (President: Kazuo Ohara, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has added MX3030 cermet grade inserts to the APX3000 multi-functional shoulder milling cutter series. They will be launched on October 1^st.

The MX3030 cermet grade has a higher thermal conductivity than the conventional NX4545 cermet grade. This provides greater resistance to thermal cracking and chipping that can occur during cutting, making it possible to maintain excellent machined surface finishes. MX3030 also has excellent toughness properties, which improves machining efficiency at larger depths of cut.

Main features of the MX3030 a cermet grade for milling are as follows

1. Specialized alloying of the metal bonding phase enables a big improvement in fracture resistance.
    
2. Maintains wear resistance with a hard titanium compound phase.
    
3. Cermet has low reactivity with iron that provides excellent thermal stability and increased resistance to oxidisation.
