Mitsubishi Materials Corporation appoints a new Chief Strategy Officer in the Metalworking Solutions Company to drive business transformation.

Mitsubishi Materials, Metalworking Solutions Company, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mirko Merlo as the new Chief Strategy Officer, effective March 1st, 2024. Reporting directly to Company President Kazuo Ohara, Mr. Merlo will lead the Sales and Business Strategy Divisions in Japan and the Overseas Sales Entities towards the globalization of the group while expanding the company’s expertise and product performance worldwide.

Mirko Merlo brings extensive experience from a broad industrial base and a high level of expertise in the cutting tools sector, having successfully held multi-functional executive roles in leading global carbide tool manufacturers that have operated in a variety of different markets and business environments. In an opening statement, Mr. Merlo said: “In challenging social, environmental, and economic times, companies must deliver superior customer value to meet the latest trends. In his new role he will help the company evolve towards a more customer centric approach through strategic and operational transformation, while creating new business opportunities in the global marketplace.
