New BC5110 PVD coated CBN turning insert grade for cast irons

MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION Metalworking solutions company (Company President: Tetsuya Tanaka, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has released BC5110, a PVD coated CBN turning insert grade for cast iron machining.

New BC5110 uses a tough substrate with a high hardness coating to provide excellent chipping and wear resistance. This enables good component surface finishes when turning grey cast irons at low cutting speeds.

Main features of BC5110:

1. Compared to conventional grades, the fine grain and high CBN content greatly improves chipping resistance that provides stability and long tool life.

2. The hard ceramic coating layer provides excellent surface finishes as well as wear and notch resistance during continuous cutting.

3. Chipping and peeling of the coating layer are suppressed due to the improved bonding strength to the CBN substrate.
