New Sizes Added to the DSA Series of Solid Carbide Drills for Machining Super Heat Resistant Alloys

The solid carbide DSA drill series has been praised highly for achieving a long tool life and producing an excellent quality hole even when machining super heat resistant alloys which, when compared to general steels, tends to create excess cutting heat and workpiece hardening.

Mitsubishi Materials is pleased to announce the addition of sizes DC 12.3mm to 15.0mm to the current range.
*Please note that sizes DC 12.3mm to 15.0mm are made to order.

Key features of the solid carbide DSA drill series:

1. The unique coolant hole geometry for drilling diameters of 5mm or greater increases the amount of coolant discharged without reducing drill rigidity, thereby improving lubricity and cooling.

2. The straight cutting edge geometry and the edge honing enables stable chip formation and suppress chipping when machining super heat resistant alloys.

3. The margin designed for machining super heat resistant alloys minimizes the contact area and suppresses cutting heat and hardening of the workpiece.

4. The new PVD coated carbide grade DP9020 increases hardness while maintaining toughness as well as improving wear resistance.
