Milling

Addition of 2 DLC Coated Types to the Alimaster End Mill Series for High Efficiency Machining of Aluminium Alloys

Recent trends demand high efficiency machining of aluminium due to the increased rigidity of the machine tools, workpiece and tool clamping mechanisms. There is also more interest in dry machining due to an increase in environmental awareness. To meet these demands, MITSUBISHI MATERIALS has developed tools for highly stable and efficient machining of aluminium alloys by adopting a proprietary DLC coating on 2 types of the Alimaster end mill series. The new DLC coated types feature outstanding coating adhesion and has improved chip welding resistance when compared to the already excellent Alimaster uncoated range of end mills. The DLC3SA, and DLC3SARB both provide the highest efficiency, dry machining option and are able to create immaculate component surface finishes.

Main features of the DLC3SA and DLC3SARB end mills

The unique DLC coating with excellent adhesion and welding resistance reduces cutting friction, allowing stable machining that requires rapid chip evacuation such as when slotting and contouring.

1. Achieves dry machining for a lower environmental impact. By using an air blower, it is possible to prevent chips from clogging and create more stability when high feed machining.
