The new coated MP3115 and uncoated MX3115 cermet grades for turning steel are engineered to deliver exceptional finishing performance, combining superior dimensional stability, high quality surface finishes and dependable wear resistance in demanding machining environments.

Designed for high-speed cutting applications in the range up to 350 m/min, MP3115/MX3115 features an advanced AlTiN–AlCrN nano-multilayer coating, a wear-resistant surface structure and an optimized binder-phase design. This combination helps manufacturers achieve a smoother finished surface while minimizing dimensional changes to the workpiece, two critical factors for precision steel turning. The consistent part accuracy is a key factor when producing high-precision parts where appearance and tolerance control directly affect product quality and downstream performance if further operations on the component are needed. 

MP3115/MX3115 also delivers enhanced reliability under high-speed cutting conditions. Its extremely hard surface and tough core structure work together to improve resistance to wear, oxidation and chipping, helping to prevent sudden cutting edge failure. For manufacturers, this means longer tool life, reduced tool compensation and a more stable production performance.

MP3115/MX3115 supports a wide range of steel turning operations including carbon, alloy and mild steels. With a recommended cutting speed range of 150–350 m/min and a versatile lineup of insert geometries and chipbreakers for finishing, light and medium cutting, The 13 different chipbreakers and nine different insert geometries also gives manufacturers the flexibility to optimise performance across multiple applications.

MP3115 /MX3115 is available with negative geometry TNGG inserts and in the positive geometry types CC, CP, DC, TB, TC, and TP. All the positive geometries are available in both M, E and G class, with the exception of the CP range where only M class can be chosen.
